Objectives

Firstly, our objective is to develop a local samba school, playing rhythms as close to the Carioca Samba Enredo sound as possible (the sound of Carnival Samba from Rio de Janeiro).

Beleza also aspires to lift the overall quality of samba music/dance in Perth.

Perth is still yet to see one of its samba schools pull off an authentic sounding samba batucada with a large bateria (drumming group). Beleza has plans to change this so that the citizens of perth can feel what samba is really all about. At the moment we have about 20 people that we can put together for a BIG parade sound but we need more!

Our dream is start a annual samba festival in Perth where all the samba schools get to strut their stuff. Introducing the idea that each samba school should have its own floats, PA system and dancers!

We also study the musical styles that are closely related to samba enredo such as samba reggae, axe, maculele, afoxe, portido alto and pagode.

We offer performances, tuition and workshops in all of the above.
